What Is Being Done
Actions Being Taken
By The Numbers
- More government regulations on industry and manufacturing
- The Environmental Protection Agency has already implemented several laws to prohibit ocean dumping, protect beaches, reduce pollution from ships, and reduce marine debris
- Push for more renewable energy sources, such as solar or wind power to push back off-shore drilling
- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration watches renewable ocean energy projects and spreads awareness on the benefits of renewable energy on the ocean
- Promote eco-friendly pesticide options and organic farming, and limit polluting agricultural pesticides
- Many laws and regulations have been implemented to prevent using and selling many pesticides. The Endangered Species Act also requires federal agencies to evaluate the impact of pesticides on endangered species and their habitats, including those in the ocean
- Cut down on industry and manufacturing waste and contain landfills so they don’t spill into the ocean.
People around the world are helping the Ocean by picking up trash and making one meaningful object out of thousands of non-meaningful and harmful objects, by making one fish out of over one thousand pieces of garbage we are helping the oceans
